Analysis for Hatchet 3 (2013)

Hatchet 3 is the horror film of 2013 in the Hatchet series. It chronicles the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. The film features Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow as well as Rileah Vanderbilt as Misty.

The main strengths of the film lie in the practical effects. Unlike many modern horror movies that rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly realistic makeup effects and sets, resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.

Kane Hodder stands out as an formidable character. The cast gives an impressive performance. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher film. It's funny and hilarious. There are instances of humor in the film which add humour to bloody action.

The budget for the film was limited to $1 million. This means that many locations in the movie are repeated from previous films. One boat house is featured twice, and the majority (click now to see vid) of the scenes feel like they're like a rerun of previous films. This can make it seem like it's all too familiar especially for people who've already seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, Hatchet 3 was an enjoyable show. I enjoyed the violent thrills it offered and the entertaining performances of the actors.
